Hampton Court Castle – The Conservatory

Hampton Court Castle – The Conservatory
Organic food and drink at it’s finest!

The conservatory at Hampton Court is now home to the Orangery restaurant, designed by Joseph Paxton in 1846, six years before he went on to design Crystal Palace for the Great Exhibition.

The fully functional organic ‘Kitchen Garden’ within our 1,000 acres rich estate provides freshly cut salad leaves as well as crops harvested for soups and quiches. Gluts of runner beans, courgettes, carrots, green tomatoes and anything else we have in abundance are turned into chutney by the castle cooks, which are then served in the restaurant. Apples & pears go to make desserts and pies. Excess of any produce harvested is also sold in the shop for visitors to purchase.
Any food & ingredients that have not come from the Kitchen Garden are bought from specially selected local producers and suppliers.  We have now added an Ice Cream Parlour for those ‘hot sunny days’.  Please note:  Admission to gardens is payable to use the Orangery Restaurant and Ice Cream Parlour, however, we do have rooms to hire for private functions.
